Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy
Helps to balance your natural rhythm
Craniosacral Therapy is a very gentle, yet profoundly deep technique to optimize the body’s own healing capabilities. Your certified Craniosacral therapist uses a gentle, hands-on approach to access and enhance movements within the body, bringing balance and restoration of the natural rhythms. It allows the body to release tension patterns that either cause dysfunction or keep the body from optimally moving.

What are the benefits of Craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral therapy improves the fluid movement in the systems throughout the body. By doing this, it enhances many functions: the provision of nutrients to cells; the removal of toxins and waste products from the tissues; the circulation of immune cells, thereby increasing the body’s natural defenses against disease-producing bacteria and viruses; the delivery of fresh blood to organs and tissues; and the movement of cerebral spinal fluid.

How does it work?

The therapist will assess, with a sensitive touch, the subtle cranial wave of the cerebrospinal fluid that flows around the brain and spinal cord. She will locate restrictions  encourage their release. During this process, the Central Nervous System quiets and continued relaxation and releasing occur. It is on a very individual basis that the direction of treatment is determined. The treatment continues with gentle techniques of touch to release tension patterns and improve the flow patterns of the cerebrospinal fluid.

What happens during a session?

The patient is fully clothed and lies on a padded table. The therapist will begin by placing his or her hands somewhere on the body and then continues the treatment at other places. The cranium (skull) and the sacrum (tailbone) are very often touch occurs, however each bone and body part is a hologram of the whole so the whole body can be treated by a specific part. For example, the area in a person’s cranium that is tight and may be contributing to a headache can be treated by work at the sacrum, allowing an adjustment that directly affects the spinal cord, the spinal column and thus the cranium.

Usually the patient experiences a very deep state of relaxation. As the mind becomes more still, he or she can often sense movements of energy or releases in specific areas of the body. Emotional releases can be experienced along with insight (from a quiet mind) and physical releases. If you have any questions, just ask.
